Helen Phyllis Ashcraft
COOLVILLE, OH – Helen Phyllis Ashcraft left her earthly body on December 27, 2018 at Arcadia Valley Nursing & Rehabilitation Center at the age of 93 years.
Born April 19, 1925 in Guysville the third child, but first girl, of Okey M. Ashcraft and Mary “Phyllis” Pierce Ashcraft. They had a bit of trouble coming up with a name, so for three years she was called Sister. Many of her nieces and nephews still call her Aunt Sister! She was a homemaker for 27 years before entering the workforce. She held various jobs locally at Dorothy’s Beauty Shop, Best Photo, Dick Cole’s, C & E Hardware just to name a few. But far and away her favorite job was being a “nanny” first to Teresa & Greg Manring and then to Rachel and Rebecca Stouffer whose parents worked for DuPont. She retired from being a nanny when Jody Harris’s son Seth, outgrew his need for a nanny! And even more than that she loved her family.
Those mourning her loss are many, especially her daughters: Janet (Steven Carlson of Lima, Joy (Jerry) Burdette of Coolville, and Joan Everett of Belpre. Grandchildren, Jordan (Anne) Carlson of Cary, NC, Suzanne (John) Hays of Houston, TX, Jill (Rich) Kasler of Millfield, Jane (Ken) Farrar of Chillicothe, John (Jill) Burdette of Coolville, and Josh (Mary) Everett of Imperial Beach, CA. Great-grandchildren, CJ (Lauren) Williams, Kate (Doug) Foster, Brent (Ashley) Kasler, Kathy (Matt) Sheets, Jonathan Barrett, Kelsey (Brennen Jordan) Williams, Jenna Burdette, Jonah Carlson, Ethan Carlson, Lauren Carlson, Sarah Carlson, Luke Everett, Tim Everett and Sophia Hays. 11 great-great-grandchildren, plus her sister, Carol Bolen of Sebring, FL, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Denny, Beryl, and Pete Ashcraft and sisters, infant Mary Ann Ashcraft, Joan O’Neil and Wanda Lee Nickoson; son-in-law, Billy Dean Everett, Jr. and the father of her children, William Brent Kayser.
Funeral services will be held at the White-Schwarzel Funeral Home in Coolville on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2018 at 1 P.M. with Pastor Wayne Dunlap officiating. Burial will follow in the Coolville Cemetery.
