Harley Vern Riley

Harley Vern Riley, 69 of Athens, passed away Friday, December 27, 2024 at his home surrounded by family after a short illness. Born July 5, 1955 in Athens, he was the son of Vern and the late Thelma Secoy Riley.

Harley had no better joy in his life than being at home watching birds out his window with his beloved daughter and grandchildren. 

Besides his father, he is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Opal Barnes Riley; daughter, Tina Riley; grandchildren, Morgan, Kyle Riley, Caden Welch, Chance, Chase McQuade, Toni McMannis; great-grandchildren, Claire, Estella Welch, Brielle Riley; brothers, Jack, Paul, Rick Riley; cousin, Deanna Secoy Jellison; and special friend, Connie Smith Dishong.

Besides his mother, he is preceded in death by his sons, Tony Riley (2001), Luke Riley (2016); and nephew, Johnny Riley (2002).
