Gilford Rowley
Gilford Junior Rowley, 84, passed away on July 14, 2011 at his residence following a courageous battle with cancer. "Gil" was born June 15, 1927 in Davisville, WV. He was the son of the late Gilford L. Rowley and Gertrude Virginia Meeker.
Gil enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1945 serving aboard the Destroyer USS Norris, and was a decorated WWII veteran. He was employed and retired from Marbon/Borg-Warner after 31 years of employment as a Lab Quality Control Supervisor. After his retirement he enjoyed flying, fishing, hunting and especially beekeeping.
He is survived by Ethel "Sally" Rowley, wife of 64 years; three sons, Daniel Debbie of Marietta, Steve Linda of Fleming and Jerry Sue of Cincinnati; two daughters, Gloria Wheeler Darrell of Tuppers Plains and Beverly Wilfong David of Torch; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive visitors at 1pm with a service starting at 2pm Sunday at White-Schwarzel Funeral Home in Coolville, Ohio with Rev. Paul McGuire officiating. Following the service, burial with full military rites will be observed at Meigs County Memory Gardens.
