Gerald "Jim" Nelson

Gerald "Jim" Nelson, 83, of Chauncey, died Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at Select Medical in Newark, Ohio. Born July 29, 1940, in Chauncey, Ohio, he was the son of the late Fredrick Sylvester and Elizabeth Marvella Showalter Nelson. Jim attended Chauncey High School and was a United States Army Veteran. He worked for many years at ABEX in Athens and the Mental Health Center. He is survived by his daughter, Rosemary Limo and her fiancé, Mark Burden. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, John E. Nelson and one sister, Kathryn A. Steinmeyer. Graveside services will be held at 1 PM on Monday, March 11, 2024, at Athens Memory Gardens with Phil Foster officiating. Military services will be conducted by the Albany VFW and Athens American Legion Post 21. The family would like to send out a big thank you to those in the Intensive Care Unit at O'Bleness Memorial Hospital and Select Medical in Newark.
