Gene Gross, 81 of Shade, passed away Thursday, September 20, 2018 surrounded by loved ones. Gene (also known as Bob), was born February 27, 1937 in Pike County, Kentucky, son of George and Dorothy Price Gross.
Gene retired from Simero Roofing. Gene worked tirelessly in his shop creating masterpieces of wood that his family and friends will cherish.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Vamos Gross; children Debra (David) Dempsey of Upper Marlboro, MD, Ronald Gross of Columbus, Linda (Rick) Isaac of Reynoldsburg, step-daughter, Kim Martin of Shade; Lucy, his fur baby (dog); grandchildren, Nakia Angelique, Elisabeth, David (Erica) Dempsey, Katelynn Balch, Baylee (AJ) VanCooney, Alan (Jen), Adam (Jimmie) Isaac; sisters, Deloris Morris and Phyllis (Jim) Ely; great-grandchildren, Cairo Dempsey, Braelynn VanCooney, Jayden, Owen, and Marleigh Isaac, as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Besides his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his brothers, Luther, Charles, Farley, Ronnie, Wesley, and Dennis; sister, Rose Stanton, and stepson, Bryan Balch.
A private family celebration of Gene’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Chauncey Dog Shelter, 13333 State Route 13, Chauncey, OH 45764.
