Guysville - Gary "Rambler" Lanning, 73, of Guysville, died Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at the Ohio State James Cancer Medical Center in Columbus.
Born September 29, 1942 in Jackson, Ohio, he was the son of the late Clyde and Sybil Denney Lanning. Gary attended Bloomfield Local Elementary School and Jackson High School. Gary served his country in the United States Army (Vietnam Era) and was a truck driver his entire life.
He is survived by Nancy, his loving wife of 25 years; two stepsons, Michael and Nathan Cole who he treated as his sons; grandchildren Kody, Jordan, Abbie, Alyssa and Xander Cole; two brothers Vale (Margaret) Lanning and Clint (Connie) Lanning; a sister Dee (Frank) Gilkey as well as in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Kenneth Dustin Lanning and grandparents Harry and Myrtle Denny and Ira and Gustava Lanning.
Funeral services will be at 1:00, Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at White-Schwarzel Funeral Home in Coolville with pastors Rob Barber and Lonnie Coats officiating. Friends may call the funeral home from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the funeral home to help cover funeral expenses.
