Emery Joseph Gordon
HOCKINGPORT-- Emery Joseph Gordon, 88, of Hockingport, OH, passed away Monday, March 23, 2020 at WVU Camden-Clark Medical Center in Parkersburg, WV.
He was born March 1, 1932 in Port Arthur, TX, son of the late Francis Gordon and Edith Gordon Attaway. Emery was a U.S. Army Veteran. He graduated from Bishop Byrne High School in Port Arthur, Texas in 1950. He attended Texas A&M College and graduated in 1956 with a degree as a Civil Engineer. After graduation, he worked for the Texas Dept. of Highways and then Dupont which he retired from in 1991.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Rodney Attaway; daughter, Cynthia Ann Gordon and Jean Taylor Gordon, mother of Jake (Lynn) Gordon of Parkersburg, WV and Terry (Julie) Gordon of Houston, TX.
He is survived by Doris Gordon, mother of Rodney (Debi) Gordon of Hockingport, OH and daughter, Mary (Mark) Swecker of Friendswood, TX. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, Amber Baker, Taylor Gordon, Kyle Gordon, Erik Tracey, Laramie Swecker and Sienna Swecker and 3 great-grandchildren, Jacob Freeman, Riley Freeman and Beau Gordon.
A heartfelt thanks goes to the ambulance service, nurses and doctors of the ICU and CVU units of WVU Camden-Clark Medical Center for their dedication and professionalism in the care of our father.
Private graveside services will be held at the Coolville Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
There will be no visitation.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association in memory of Emery.
