Elva Dean Barnitz
POMEROY—Elva Dean Barnitz, 103, of Pomeroy, OH, passed away Saturday, July 23, 2022, at her residence.
She was born April 5, 1919, in Racine, OH, daughter of the late Dean and Eunice Gainer Brinker. Elva was a 1936 graduate of Racine High School and worked for the County Auditor, Treasurer and Recorder. She also worked as the Commissioners Clerk and was appointed County Auditor for 3 months. Elva also worked for Dr. J.J. Davis, the food stamp office and cared for Jay and David Warner from birth to graduation. She loved spending time with her family, cooking, sewing, quilting and made over 100 quilts. Most importantly, Elva is now home with Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior. Attending Sunday school since four years old, she enjoyed church and her church family. She was a member of the United Methodist church, singing in choir and serving the Lord in various ways.
Elva is survived by a son, Hayman and Frances Barnitz; daughter-in-law, Beverly Barnitz; 6 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Jeffrey and Linda Warner and a special thank you to her caregiver, Linda Boggs.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hayman A. Barnitz and son, Gary Barnitz.
Graveside services will be held at 1 P.M., Saturday, Aug. 6, 2022, at the Meigs Memory Gardens Chapel in Pomeroy, OH.
There will be no visitation.
