Long Bottom – Elton Arthur Ritchie, Age 83, of Long Bottom, Ohio passed away on Thursday, August 15, 2024.
He was preceded in death by his parents Wayne and Mary (Swindler) Ritchie; his siblings Eileen (Carl) Kuhn, Bill Ritchie, Joe Ritchie, Earl Ritchie, and a brother-in-law Forrest Buck Rhodes.
He is survived by his siblings Emma Rhodes and Jack Ritchie; children Beth (Randy) Pierce, Ken (Lisa) Ritchie, and Jayne (Brian) Collins; his grandchildren Colin (Ali) Pierce, Dakota (Niki) Collins, Baylee Collins/Frankie Elliott, Garrett Ritchie, Nolan (Marley) Pierce, and Clayton Ritchie; his great-grandchildren Ally and Zoey Collins, Emmie and Josie Pierce, Holden Elliott and Blake Pierce; along with a multitude of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Elton will be remembered as someone who was a hard-working farmer that loved German chocolate cake, homemade noodles, and circus peanuts. He was a Teamster truck driver and worked on several regional construction projects in the Ohio Valley area. He became a member of Faith Baptist Church in Mason, WV at age 82 when he was baptized in 2023. Per his wishes, he will be buried at Tuppers Plains Christian Cemetery with his truck driver’s license and OU parking ticket that he swore to take to his grave without paying.
Visitation will be from 11:00 am – 12:30pm, with memorial service to follow on Sunday, August 18, 2024 at White-Schwarzel Funeral Home in Coolville, Ohio. Brief graveside service will be held following the memorial service at the Tuppers Plains Christian Church cemetery in Tuppers Plains, Ohio. A dinner will follow at St Paul’s United Methodist Church for family and friends.
