ATHENS – Eloise Clark, 93, passed away on Monday, December 30, 2024, surrounded by her family. Born August 17, 1931, in Guysville, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Goldie Scott King.

 Eloise had a deep love for Athens and its people. She retired from the Athens County Sheriff's office, where she worked as a cook. She also cherished spending time with her family.

 She is survived by her daughter, Jane Wells; two granddaughters, Olivia (Lee) Bateman and Ashley (Chester Dains) Wells; three great-grandchildren, Dylan (Montana) Dresbach, Harley (Ross) Dresbach, and Dakota Wells; two brothers, Harry (Alice) King and Jerry (Pauletta) King; one sister, Hazel King; and several nieces and nephews.

 In addition to her parents, Eloise was preceded in death by her husband, the late Gomer Clark; Son in law, Jack Wells; one brother, Bill King; and two sisters, Lucille Kelley and Freda Petty.

 A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 3, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Hughes Funeral Home in Athens, with Pastor Phil Foster officiating. A burial will follow the funeral at Garden Cemetery in Guysville.  Visitation will be held prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Hughes Funeral Home.
