Edwin "Ed" Rood
Edwin "Ed" Rood, 60, of Coolville, OH passed away Monday, March 28, 2011 at his residence.
He was born Aug. 26, 1950 in Parkersburg, WV son of Alma Tucker Rood and the late Carl E. Rood. He was an Air Force Veteran, a member of the Athens AmVets Post #76, a retired cable splicer for Alltel/Windstream with 38 years of service; the former Mayor of Coolville and a member of the Coolville Lions Club. He was also active with the Coolville Village Council, a former member of the Coolville Fire Dept and a former EMT for EMS.
In addition to his mother, Alma, he is survived by his wife Gloria; a son, James and Jennifer; a daughter, Patricia and Mike Sullivan; 3 grandsons, Ryan Rood, Stanley Rood and Branden Rood; a granddaughter, Shana Rood; 2 brothers, Harley and Curtis Rood; 3 sisters, Garland Smith, Garrnet Lipps and Elizabeth Horton.
He was preceded in death by his father, Carl; and a son Edwin Jr.
Services will be held 11 A.M., Friday, April 1, 2011 at White-Schwarzel Funeral Home, Coolville, OH with Ron Easterling officiating. Burial will be in the Coolville Cemetery, where military graveside services will be conducted by Athens AmVets Post #76.
