ATHENS – Dwayne B. Hysell, 54 of Athens, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday morning, April 24, 2024 at OhioHealth O’Bleness Hospital. Born June 5, 1969 in Nelsonville, he was the son of Rita J. Hall and the late Larry G. Hysell.
A 1987 graduate of Federal Hocking Schools, Dwayne went on to work for Kroger. For over 38 years he worked in the meat department in Kroger as a cutter providing delicate and professional service to local shoppers.
Besides his mother, he is survived by his wife of 23 years, Kelly; son, Brant (Maddie) Hysell; twin brother, Derek (Malinda) Hysell; mother-in-law & father-in-law, Roy E. Suzanne Lewis; nephews, Chris (Emily) Hysell, Jeff (Jennifer) Hysell, Richard (Kristina) Hysell; nieces, Tiffany Hysell, Kimberly Hysell; nephews, Brennen, Bryson, Brayden Lewis; brothers-in-law, Brett (Michelle) and Bart (Jodie) Lewis; great-nieces, Lillian, Bridgette, Everleigh; step-mother, Wendy Hysell; and special work friends, Jill, Brett, Shawn, Emmett, and James.
Besides his father, he is preceded in death by his brother Kevin (2019).
Visitation services will be Sunday, April 28, 2024 at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home from 2PM – 5PM. A funeral service will begin at 5PM officiated by Pastor Steve Sparling with a gathering at the Athens Elks Lodge 973 immediately following the service.
