Donald Barnhart
Donald Paul Barnhart, 83, of Stewart, OH passed away Thursday, Feb. 12, 2009 at Hickory Creek Nursing Center, Athens, OH.
He was born July 13, 1925 in Lottridge, OH son of the late Benjamin and Leota Belle Johnson Barnhart. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, where he received six medals of honor including a three star medal and Presidential Citation. He retired from Peterson Construction Company and was a member of the Teamsters Union.
He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Eddie and Rhonda Barnhart of Stewart, OH and Ricky and Diana Barnhart of Mineral Wells, WV; a daughter and son-in-law, Patty and Vern Gabriel of Stewart, OH; his twin sister, Polly Chambers of St. Petersburg, FL and a sister, Betty Lou Graham of Blacklick, OH; 2 brothers, James Barnhart of Ravanna, OH and Benny Barnhart of Athens, OH; 5 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Berdena; a grandson, Mike Gabriel; 2 brothers, Earl and Amos Barnhart; 4 sisters, Marie Manley, Jessie Russell, Edith Cole and Mayme Sally DePew.
Services will be held 1 P.M., Sunday, Feb. 15, 2009 at White-Schwarzel Funeral Home, Coolville, OH with Pastor Roger McCoy officiating. Burial will be in the Wyers Cemetery, Guysville, OH, where military graveside services will be conducted by the Athens American Legion K. T. Crossen Post 21.
