Donald W. Hixson, 86 of Athens, passed away Friday, April 4, 2025 at his home. Born April 6, 1938 in Athens, he was the son of the late Lewis and Audrey Everetts Hixson.
A 1957 graduate of Amesville High School, Donald went on to become an expert carpenter. He was a jack of all trades and had artistic ability that was unmatched. His creative nature made him able to construct nearly anything he set his mind toward. Outside of his carpentry accomplishments, he enjoyed spending time with his family. He adored his grandchildren and teaching them countless life lessons. His faith in our Lord was unending and he was a very active member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
He is survived by his children, Paul (Meredith) Hixson, Duane (Vicky) Hixson, Steven Hixson; two grandchildren, Amanda (Choya) Mansfield, Timothy (Alex) Hixson; three great-grandchildren, Leif Mansfield, Sigi Mansfield, Caladyn Hixson; and three siblings, Linda (Charlie) Clark, Jim Hixson, and Joe Hixson.
Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Tanya R. Harper Hixson; grandchild, Paul John Hixson; and siblings, Phyllis Hixson, Craig Hixson, and Jeraldine Rosson.
Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Hughes Funeral Home of Athens. A memorial service will be announced at a later date at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church. Those who wish to sign the online guestbook or leave the family a message of sympathy may do so at www.ehwfh.com.
