NELSONVILLE – David N. Hanning, Sr., 87, of Nelsonville, died Saturday morning, December 29, 2018 at his home.
Born August 31, 1931 in Amanda, he was the son of the late Alfred and Margaret Lenart Hanning.
He was a 1950 graduate of Chauncey Dover High School and attended Ohio University. He retired from the US Post Office and was a life long bible student and elder with LHMM Bible Standard Ministries andwas a US Army Veteran of the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Kathryn; two children, Lisa Welch of Pickerington, David (Karrie) Hanning of Nelsonville; five grandchildren, Aimee (Richard) Randle-Stearne, Heather Randle, D. Nathan Hanning, II, Noah Hanning, Sarah Hanning; three great grandchildren, Harper Rice, Lottie Randle-Stearne, Roisin Randle-Stearne; two sisters, Esther Fussner, and Barbara Boggess.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters, Eva Baker, Ruth Dukeman, Betty Willis, Irene Lovsey, Margaret Ogg, Alfred Hanning, Jr., John Hanning, Eleanor Hanning, and Frederick Hanning.
Services will be Thursday at 1:00 PM at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home with Pastors Bob Steenrod and Mike Hanning officiating. Burial will be in Hilltop Cemetery where Military services will be conducted by the Athens American Legion Post 21 and The Albany VFW Post 9893. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 11:00 AM until the time of the service.
