Cynthia (Kitty) Sweeney
STEWART--Cynthia (Kitty) Kathleen Sweeney, 82, a longtime resident of Stewart, OH went to be with the Lord on Nov. 4, 2017 at Hickory Creek Nursing Home in The Plains, OH surrounded by her family.
She was born Jan. 22, 1935 in Athens, OH daughter of the late William Austin and Marcia Green Gatchel. She worked a Law Head Press and was the head cook at Federal Hocking Middle School for 25 years until retirement. She was a member of the Stewart United Methodist Church and really enjoyed working in her flower garden, watching the birds, going to look at the Christmas lights and the trees in the fall. There really wasn't much in life she didn't enjoy. She really enjoyed spending time with her family. Her children and grandchildren were her life.
She is survived by two sons, Edwin (Teresa) Sweeney III of Columbus, OH and Craig (Lisa) Sweeney of Guysville, OH; three grandchildren, Bridget (Jamie) Washburn of Amesville, OH, Sean Sweeney of Guysville, OH and Jennifer (Tom) Gonzalez of Guysville, OH; four great-grandchildren, Harlee, Chelsea and Austin Washburn and Liam Gonzalez; two great-great-grandchildren, Kilee and Hailee Devaney and several nieces, nephews, cousins, many wonderful friends and the caretakers of Hickory Creek Nursing Home who stood by her side during this difficult time.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin (Eddie) Sweeney, Jr.; her mother and father-in-law, Edwin and Doris Sweeney and her brothers and sisters, William, Joseph, Melvin (Pete), Jean, Pearl, Donna, Bob, Marcia and Kenneth (Kink).
Funeral services will be held at 1 P.M., Thursday, Nov. 9, 2017 at White-Schwarzel Funeral Home in Coolville, OH with Pastor Jim Lambert officiating. Burial will follow in the Coolville Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
