Curtis Devin Frey passed away on Tuesday, July 4, 2023 in Athens, OH where he lived most of his life, attending Athens High School. He was 42. A talented artist in his youth, he began playing the guitar in his teens and devoted his life to being a musician, playing at many cities and venues nationwide with his band We March, including New Orleans, Memphis TN, New York (the legendary CBGB), and San Francisco (Parkside). He was well known and influential in the Athens music scene, over the years playing hundreds of times at the Union in many bands, including Dirty Curty Band, Flesh World, Swill House Boys, Bitch Hog PD, and Monster Truck Deth, to name a few. He was both passionate and uncannily talented; it was said that he had perfect pitch and could pick up almost any instrument and play it. He is recalled dearly by his friends as funny, caring, sometimes sweet, and often strongly opinionated; Curtis loved a good argument.
He is lovingly remembered by his parents, David Frey of Athens and Margaret Frey of Brookline, MA; his stepmother, Janey Smith of Athens; and his siblings, Bridget Frey of Brookline, MA and Corey Frey of Los Angeles, CA.
