ATHENS – Cora Mae Hooper, 91, of Sun City Center, Florida, formerly of Athens and Columbus, Ohio, died Friday, June 2, 2017 in Sun City Center, Florida after a short illness. Born September 21, 1925 in Point Pleasant, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Curtis and Zora Deweese Yeager. She was a graduate of Point Pleasant High School and retired from Lennox Corporation in Columbus after many years of service. In her younger days when she lived in Athens, she worked at McBee’s. She and her late husband enjoyed traveling and visiting all the relatives, family and friends. Cora Mae loved her sports teams, as she watched a lot of baseball and football games and was an avid Ohio State fan. She is survived by three sisters; Mildred Hooper, Ruth Conkey, and Glenna (Richard) Grim, all from Athens; and several nieces and nephews. Also, she enjoyed many good years with her companion, Glen Boston while in Florida. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Hooper; two sisters, Emogene Yeager Coen, Martha Yeager Bingham; and a brother, William Yeager. Services will be noon Saturday, June 10, 2017 at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home with Rev. Karen Crawford officiating. Burial will be in Athens Memory Gardens.
