Clyde C. Beasley, Jr., 83 of Athens, a beloved husband, respected retired law enforcement officer, educator, and devoted member of various community organizations passed away Thursday evening, August 1, 2024 at his home. Born on September 19, 1940, in Athens County, he was the son of the late Clyde and Nellie Bobo Beasley.  

Clyde dedicated 33 years of his life to serving the Athens City Police Department, eventually rising to the rank of Captain before retiring. His commitment to justice extended beyond his retirement as he continued to share his expertise as an instructor at Hocking College, specializing in firearms and basic police classes.

A man of integrity and honor, Clyde was a graduate of the prestigious FBI Academy in Virginia and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1961, stationed in Germany. In addition to his professional accomplishments, Clyde in the past attended the the Oak Grove Wesleyan Church in Nelsonville, where he found solace and community.

An active member of various fraternal organizations such as the Paramuthia Lodge 25 F&M and 32 Mason, as well as the Athens County Shrine Club, Clyde was deeply involved in giving back to his fellow citizens. His passion for the outdoors led him to be a member of the Hocking Valley Sportsmen Club where he found joy in hunting and fishing.

Clyde's adventurous spirit extended to his love for motorcycle riding, with countless cross country journeys embarked upon alongside Judy. His zest for life and dedication to his community will forever be remembered by all who had the privilege of crossing paths with him.

Clyde is survived by his beloved wife of over 41 years, Judy; five daughters, Tina Holsinger, Tammy (Randy) Blow, Carmen (Jim) Dickson, Paula Russell, Amanda Kerr; two step-sons, Daniel (Janet) Williams, Ronald (Galia) Williams; and several grandchildren & great-grandchildren. 

Besides his parents, Clyde is preceded in death by his two brothers, George & John Beasley, and sister, Mary Jane Picket.

Funeral services to honor Clyde Beasley's remarkable life will be 7 P.M. at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home in Athens on Tuesday, August 6, 2024. Visitation will also be Tuesday from 4 P.M. - 7 P.M. with Military Honors will be conducted by the American Legion KT Crossen Post 21 and Albany VFW Post 9893 at 4 P.M. Following family wishes, cremation and private inurnment will be at West Union Street Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Fairhope Hospice as a thank you for their dedicated care to Clyde in the last moments of his life.
