Clayton L. Johnson
Clayton L. Johnson, , of Reedsville, OH passed away Wednesday, December 24, 2014.
He was born January 31, 1941 in Frost, OH son of the late Clayton H. and Virginia Baker Johnson Reed. He was raised by Aubrey and Alta Bailey. Clayton attended Coolville Carthage Troy School and was a Military Police Officer in the U.S. Army from 1963-1965 while being stationed in Germany for 18 months. He earned his GED in the military and was a member of The Ohio Operating Engineers Local 18 and the International Operating Engineers for 48 years before retiring from Operating Engineers in 2001. He was a member of the American Legion in Delaware, OH and was a Truck Puller since 1978 driving the truck named Slo-Mo-Shun and his granddaughter drove the truck named All She Wrote. He was also a member of the NHRA and the American Farm Pullers Association.
Clayton is survived by his wife of 48 years, Shirley E. Johnson; a daughter, Debbie Kern; a son, Jeffrey (Deanna) Johnson; grandchildren, Joshua (Amanda) Veach, Amanda Veach and Brooke Johnson; 4 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Virginia Hayman, Florence Fitzpatrick and Mabel McDaniel; 3 brothers, John Johnson, Orville Reed, Jr. and Ralph Reed; many nieces, nephews and close friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 baby sisters; 2 brothers, Ray Reed and Frank Reed; a grandson, Chris Lett and a sister, Dixie Johnson.
Services will be held at 2 P.M., Sunday, December 28, 2014 at White-Schwarzel Funeral Home, Coolville, OH with Rev. George Horner and Pastor Gene Goodwin officiating. Burial will be in the Eden Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday from 5-8 P.M.
