Charles Harry Tholin
Charles Harry Tholin, 65, of Coolville, went home to the Lord on July 3, 2014 at his residence.
He was born on June 17, 1949 and was preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy and Harry Tholin.
He is survived by his loving wife, Enid, his two daughters, Erica (Scott) Chaddock and Aryn (Jeremy) Myers, and four grandchildren, Hayden and Breece Chaddock and Kealy and Jaxon Myers, and a sister, Karen (Charlie) Kane and two nieces Stacy Joy Cardis and Krista Fuller.
A jack of all trades he explored many careers through New York, Texas and Ohio, finally retiring from the United States Postal Service-Baker Center office in Athens, Ohio. His wit, humor, friendliness and sincere interest in people inspried many budding journalists at Ohio University to write articles about the "OU Mailman", which always amazed and humbled him. He was passionate about his family, music, meeting new people, finding adventures, and gaining knowledge. He was fascinated with survival techniques, and cheesy sci-fi movies which gave us all a chuckle. A huge animal lover, he was known locally as the "sucker for a stray", which kept the farm supplied with dogs and cats, and he volunteered his time to the Humane Society of Parkersburg at every opportunity.
As a member of Bible Baptist Church, he found great peace and comfort throughout his illness. He made a mark everywhere he went and will be missed, yet celebrated, for the strength and faith he displayed. In lieu of flowers, Memorial donations can be made in his name to Washington County Hospice, The Parkersburg Humane Society, or the American Cancer Society.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, July 13th at 3 p.m. at White-Schwarzel Funeral Home in Coolville, Ohio.
