Betty Jean Lowe
LITTLE HOCKING—Betty Jean Lowe, 86, of Little Hocking, OH, passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at Rockland Ridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born Nov. 17, 1935, in Little Hocking, OH, daughter of the late Clark and Lulu Matheny Horton. Betty was a founding member of Faith Chapel Community Church and also co-founder of Giffin Memorial Church. Along with her husband, Bill, they were foster parents for 47 years to over 100 kids in Athens and Washington County. She was also a long standing Board Member for Foster Parents Association of Athens County.
Betty is survived by her husband of 71 years, Wilbert “Bill” Lowe; 2 sons, David and Kathi Lowe of Little Hocking, Eugene and Angie Lowe of Belpre; 6 daughters, Linda and Tim Carper of Charleston, Terri and Burton Brown of Belpre, Ruthie Lowe of Little Hocking, Kathi and Gary Lanham of Williamstown, Destiny Lowe and Payton Lowe of Little Hocking; 23 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren and a sister, Martha Lowe of Willoughby.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 granddaughters, Jennifer Lynn Miller and Christy Lowe; 6 brothers, Robert, Harry, Roy, James, Bill and Jack and 2 sisters, Helen and Ida.
Funeral services will be held a 2 P.M., Saturday, April 16, 2022, at Faith Chapel Community Church in Coolville, OH, with Tom Smith officiating.
Visitation will be held Friday, from 6-8 P.M. at White-Schwarzel Funeral Home in Coolville, OH and at the church one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
