Bernice Lenora Hipscher
Bernice Lenora Hipscher, 99, of Truetown, OH passed away Monday, May 18, 2009 at O'Bleness Memorial Hospital, Athens, OH.
She was born on Sept. 17, 1909 and grew up in Truetown. She was a graduate of Chauncey Dover High School and a graduate of Ohio University with a B.S. in Education. She also did Post graduate work at Capital and Ohio State University in Columbus. Bernice taught 44 years at Greens Run, Millford, Athens, Nelsonville-York and Bexley in Columbus.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Adolph and lena Chapman Hipscher; two sisters, Flossie Fred McCelland and Gertrude Pearl Brown; and 2 nephews, William Brown and Richard Brown.
Bernice is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews; great-great nieces and nephews and great-great-great nieces and nephews.
Bernice was a member of the Greens Run Church Hickory Valley Parish where she joined in 1921. She was a charter member of the Athens County Retired Teachers Association and also a member of the Ohio State and National Teachers Association.
Bernice had many interests, she was an avid reader, gardener, artist and she loved to play the piano.
Funeral services will be held 1 P.M., Thursday, May 21, 2009 at Morrison Funeral Chapel in Bishopville. Burial will be in the West Union Cemetery, Athens, OH.
Friends may call at Morrison Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, from 2-6 P.M.
