Barney L. “Bushman” Baker, Jr.

On June 3, 2023, Barney L. Baker, Jr. of Athens, Ohio unexpectedly passed away when his home caught fire. 

Born on December 20, 1968, a wild child! He was the son of Ginger Rae Withrow Callicoat and the late Barney Lee Baker, Sr.

Barney enjoyed drawing, finding things to tinker with, DJing, providing lights and sound in different venues, and going to concerts. He was the ultimate KISS Army Ambassador, fan, and collector.

Best of all, Barney was the family's best hugger, with the biggest heart. He loved his friends and family and made sure they knew that with the greatest bear hugs that are felt straight to your heart.

Besides his mother, he is survived by his sister Mary "Marcie" (Tim) Tome; his favorite niece, Eleanor Katherine Silk; sister, Keri Jo Yoho; brother, Barney Linton; aunt, Mary Ann (Tom) Davis; uncle, Danny Baker, Sr.; and numerous great aunts, uncles, and cousins. 

Besides his father, he is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Mary Ellen "Ma" and Vaughn Baker and maternal grandparents Freda and Lacey Withrow.

Barney is loved and missed deeply by all that had the honor to love him. 

A memorial service will be 1PM on Saturday, June 17, 2023 at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home with Pastor Stan West officiating. Visitation will also be Saturday from 11AM until the start of the service. Please feel free to wear any and all KISS attire as Barney would want it. In lieu of flowers, the family asks contributions be made to the funeral home to assist with unexpected end-of-life expenses.
