Arlene Koenig
Arlene Rose (Wires) Koenig, 76 of Zanesville, Ohio passed peacefully with her daughter, Laura Mae by her side on Friday, October 28th at The Oaks at North Pointe nursing facility.
On April 7, 1946, she was born at her parents’ residence on Calaway Road, Coolville, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leroy A. Wires and Laura Lenz Wires Fields; her stepfather, Gay Fields; maternal grandmother Lenna Lenz, who was a mother-figure the first years of life and great grandson, Cutler Elwood Thomas.
She is survived by five children, Myron Koenig of Zanesville, Laura Mae (Brian) Wilson of Zanesville, Darren Koenig of Roseville, Carrie (Justin) McCormack of Skokie, Illinois, and Dow Peters of Zanesville. Ten grandchildren Aaron Koenig, Courtney (Nick) Thomas, Darren Rutherford, Desarae Koenig, Scott Koenig, Amelia Koenig, Violet McCormack, Rose McCormack, Adriana Peters, and Gage Newsom and five great grandchildren. A sister, Carol (Robert) Craft of Tuppers Plains and brother Norman Stanley Wires of Albany as well as several nieces and nephews.
Arlene was a vibrant, beautiful woman who loved her family and enjoyed dinner parties. She loved her classic rock music, KFC dinners, and reading romance novels. She was a former resident of Athens County.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2022, from 3-4 P.M., at White-Schwarzel Funeral Home in Coolville, OH. Funeral services will follow at 4 P.M., with Pastor George Horner officiating. Interment will be at the Tuppers Plains Christian Cemetery in Tupper Plains, OH.
