Alyce (Oopie) Fowler

Alyce (Oopie) Kincade Root Fowler, passed away surrounded by family and friends April the 8th, 2015. To be absent from family and friends is to be in the presence of the Lord.
Alyce was born September 24, 1931 to Mabel Dewees and Carl Kincade in Coolville.
Alyce was preceded in death by her first husband, Elwood Root and is survived by many family members from her first marriage. Alyce and Elwood had operated Root's Garage in Coolville for several decades. During that time, with their love of animals, they had many wonderful pets including squirrel monkeys, dogs, cats, Topsy the pony and a Mynah bird.
Later, Alyce worked at the Athens County Auditor's office from where she retired.
Alyce and George A. (Poppy) Fowler were married in December 1982 and have spent 32 Blessed years together, traveling, camping, fishing and enjoying nature and God's creations. Alyce was a member of White Chapel Church and also along with Poppy, has spent many hours contributing time and assistance to the community.
Besides Poppy, Alyce is survived by her loving sister, who helped Alyce find the Lord, Catherine (Ginny) McCualsky and nephew David (Amy) McCualsky of Athens and a half brother Charles (Marcia) Kincaid of Spokane Valley, WA. Alyce was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Andrew McCualsky.
After her marriage to Poppy, she accepted and loved her step-children and extended family by whom she was cherished. Her step-children are Diana Fowler, Ronald (Christie) Fowler, Ruth (Craig) Foley and Anna Mary Fowler and special friend, Tina Hescht; 7 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one step-son, Buster Fowler and one grandchild, Erin Foley.
There will be visitation Saturday, April 11, 2015 from 5 to 8 P.M. at White-Schwarzel Funeral Home in Coolville with services on Sunday, April 12, 2015 at 2 P.M. with Pastors Phil Ridenour and Charles Martindale officiating. Burial will be in the Coolville Cemetery.
