SHADE – H. Wayne Rhodes, 79, of Shade, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at The Pickering House in Lancaster. Born December 6, 1937 in Racine, he was the son of the late Francis Leroy and Inez Farra Rhodes. He was a graduate of Southern High School in Racine and retired from Ohio University after 32 years of service. He was an avid gardener, and loved music, playing guitar, and was an avid University of Kentucky fan and Atlanta Braves fan. He was a loving husband, dad, and pap. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Linda Elswick Rhodes; three daughters, Melissa “Missie” (David) Kasler of Athens, Vicki (Ed) Dornbush of New Marshfield, Dawn (James) Wellspring of Belpre; three grandsons, Kory, Collin, and Cameron Kasler; seven step grandchildren; seven step great grandchildren; two siblings, Irene Thompson of Fremont, and Norman (Janet) Rhodes of Glendale, WV. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by seven siblings, Margery Rowe, Robert Rhodes, Dorothy Forbes, Charles Rhodes, Ronald Rhodes, Yolan Satterfield, and his twin brother, Edward Blaine Rhodes. Friends may call at the Athens Church of Christ on Saturday from 4 to 8 PM. Funeral services will be at the church on Sunday at 2:00 PM with Reverends Paul Elswick and Buford Brown officiating. Burial will be in Letart Falls Cemetery.
