Randall Dorrise VanDyke (RVD), 62, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, March 15, 2017. Randall was born on September 1, 1954 to Eleanor Gibson VanDyke Rinehart and the late Dorrise VanDyke in Athens, Ohio. He was a 1972 graduate of Athens High School and attended Ohio University. He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years Sheila Conant VanDyke; a son Randall Derrick VanDyke (Maria) of Canonsburg, PA; brother Mark VanDyke (Jenny) of the Plains Ohio; two grandchildren who he adored Benjamin and Megan; and numerous nieces and nephews. Randy and Sheila met in high school and were instantly connected by the love of the outdoors. Randy was an avid hunter, fisherman, and golfer with the pure joy of a hole-in-one at 163yds 14th hole at the Brass Ring July 25, 2002. He had numerous trips out west to hunt, snow ski, and numerous fishing trips to Canada and Florida. Randy, Sheila, and Derrick operated a farm for 30 years in Vinton County. Besides being proceeded in death by his father he was proceeded in death by a beloved step-father Glenn Rinehart. A family celebration of Randy’s life will be held at a later date.
