AMESVILLE - Charles Dinty Burgess, 91, of Columbus, formerly of Amesville, died Friday evening January 6, 2017 at the Woodlands of Columbus surrounded by many family and friends. Born November 19, 1925 he was the son of the late Ralph and Clara Bartlett Burgess. In addition to being an amazing father, husband and Papal, he was an extremely hardworking man that would do anything to support his family. He retired from General Motors, served as a Whitehall Auxiliary Police Officer, was a volunteer Fireman in Amesville and was an Ames Township Trustee. He enjoyed hunting, skeet shooting, and playing poker. He is survived by four children; Carolyn (Donny) Justus, Dianne (Fred) Summers, Linda (Michael Smith) Thompson, Charles (Donna) Burgess; 10 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren, half-brother and sister Nick Burgess and Sharon Sherrod and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Joyce D Burgess, that he loved and missed very much, daughter Deborah Kramer and five siblings Mary, Eileen, Walter, Frank and Ralph. Services will be Monday at 11:00 AM at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home with Rev. Monte McCune officiating. Burial will be in Mound Hill Cemetery where Military Services will be conducted by the Athens American Legion Post 21, Athens VFW Post 3477 and Albany VFW Post 9893.
