ATHENS, OHIO - Rosemary “Terri” (Isner) Rogers died Monday, December 5, 2016, at Hospice of Kimes. She was born September 1, 1939, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She moved to Athens with her husband and family in 1976. She was the daughter of the late Charles L. and Rosemary (Bissonnette) Isner. Terri is a graduate of Grand Rapids Catholic Central High School (Class of 1957) and earned a BA from Aquinas College. She later earned her Master’s Degree in Community Counseling from Ohio University - while working full-time and raising a brood of future "Nasty Women," and providing the galactic center for a busy, chaotic, energetic and ever- expanding community of family and friends. Terri is survived by her husband of almost 53 years, Charles “Chip” Rogers, four daughters, Maureen Rogers (Hal Perry) of Glendale, California, Dr. Shannon Rogers (and her alleged ex Matthew Snedden) of Evans, Georgia and Ogden, Utah respectively (but not respectably), Erin Rogers (Geoffrey Pierce) of Tampa, Florida and Kerry Rogers Gasperson (Win) of Charleston, South Carolina; grandchildren, Connor Rogers-Wartinger, Grace Anne Gasperson and Ford Gasperson; siblings, J’niece (Will) Schulte, Charles “Chuck” (Connie) Isner, Jr. and David (Donna) Isner and a horde of much loved and very special nieces and nephews, as well as many who considered her a second mother (and you know who you are). She will also be missed by her K9 family, Púca, Daisy and Lily Kumquat. Terri exemplified the role of wife, mother, teacher, humanitarian, and humanist. She was an ardent feminist notorious for regularly “frog marching” her daughters across the Ohio University campus to attend feminist lectures. She strongly supported causes of equality, solidarity and fairness for all people. She believed that no human being should be without food, shelter, clothing or healthcare for any reason. Terri was understanding, compassionate and accepting. In many ways she was not only ahead of her time but ahead of the curve. Her spirit lives on in her daughters, grandchildren and in “The Coven” (hat tip to Jonathan B.). A celebration of her life will be held, Saturday, December 17, 2016, at noon officiated by Msgr. Donald Horak at Christ the King Church, Athens, Ohio. Donations may be made, in Terri’s name, to the Southern Poverty Law Center, American Civil Liberties Union, Planned Parenthood or the Ohio University-Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine Charles “Chip” Rogers Tribute Scholarship Fund. The family would like to thank the OhioHealth Oncology Department, Dr. Shakir Sarwar and his wonderful associates as well as Jean Reed and the compassionate staff of Hospice of Kimes for their patience, understanding and care during Terri’s stay. Arrangements are with the Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home, Athens, Ohio. Please share a memory, a note of condolence, or sign the online register book at www.hughesmoquinfuneralhome.com, website.
