ATHENS – Richard E. Ames, 79, of Athens, died early Saturday morning, October 29, 2016 at O’Bleness Memorial Hospital. Born April 10, 1937 in Guysville he was the son of the late Elmer and Margaret Lucas Ames. He was a graduate of Rome Canaan High School and a member of Haga Ridge Church. He retired as a construction supervisor. He is survived by two grandchildren, Olivia Lape and Zack Baldwin, both of Columbus; a great granddaughter, Delilah Lape of Columbus; two sisters-in-law, Mona and Helen Ames, both of Athens; his companion, Vonda Sue Williams; and a special cousin, Bill (Irene) Lucas. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Sharon Ames Baldwin; and three brothers, Leonard, Ralph and Roger Ames. Services will be Tuesday at 1:00 PM at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home with Reverend John Butcher officiating. Burial will be in Rockland Cemetery in Belpre.
