Benjamin Wayne Gates

THE PLAINS – Benjamin Wayne Gates, 42, Of Waverly, formerly of The Plains, died Early Monday morning, September 5, 2016 at Adena Pike Medical Center in Waverly. Born March 28, 1974 in Athens, he was the son of Louise Barnes Varner and the late James Oliver Gates, Sr. He was a1992 graduate of Athens High School and had worked for several area restaurants. Besides his mother, he is survived by a daughter, Lillian; three brothers, Christopher, Brian, and Daniel Gates; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his father, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Franklin and James Gates; and his stepfather, Jacob Varner. Services will be Friday at 1:00 PM at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home.
