Freda E Brooks

ATHENS – Freda E. Brooks, 77, of Athens, died Wednesday morning, October 21, 2015 at her home. Born June 7, 1938 in Buchtel, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Evelyn (Martin) Taylor. She was a homemaker and member of the Vore Ridge Community Church where she was the secretary, song leader, teacher, and choir director. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Alfred “Barney” Brooks, two daughters, Martha Brooks and Ruth Brooks, both of Athens, three grandsons, Jamie (Jen) Brooks, Brandon Brooks, and Dakota Brooks, two great-grandchildren, Austin and Olivia Brooks, and a sister, Shirley Taylor of Nelsonville. Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Alfred Lee Brooks, three brothers Ben, Jack, and Lawrence Taylor, and sister, Margaret Smith. Services will be Sunday at 2:00PM at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home with Stan West officiating. Burial will be in New Marshfield Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday from 4:00-7:00PM.
