Clarence E. Sams

STEWART – Clarence E. Sams, 82, of Stewart, died Monday morning, October 5, 2015 at his home. Born December 22, 1932 in Wadesville, WV, he was the son of the late David Walton and Mary Rue Sellers Sams. He was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion Post 21 of Athens and the Athens VFW Post 3477. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Donna Sams; a son, Danny (Christy) Sams of Stewart; a step granddaughter, Cara (Derek) Hartman of Vinton; a brother, Charles (Nancy) Sams of Vienna, WV; and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by eleven siblings, Vernice Sams, Dorothy Smith, Robert Sams, Floyd Sams, Blaine Sams, Reynard Sams, Richard Sams, Lucille Mahaffey, John Sams, Alice Mahaffey, and Pauline Bolin. Services will be Thursday at 1:00 PM at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home with Rev. Bruce Stoker officiating. Burial will be in Hilltop Cemetery where Military Services will be conducted by the Athens American Legion Post 21, Athens VFW Post 3477, and the Albany VFW Post 9893.
