THE PLAINS—Wanda Jean (Lightfritz) Brooks, 85, of The Plains passed away following a brief illness on September 20, 2015. Wanda was born in Carbondale in Vinton County on September 3, 1930, the daughter of Pard and Bertha Dell (Sickels) Lightfritz. She was a 1949 graduate of Waterloo High School in New Marshfield. Wanda was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years William K. Brooks in 2009. Wanda's warmth and good humor was responsible for her huge circle of friends and acquaintances, and for the closeness and love of her family. She was a retired school bus driver for Athens City Schools and had worked for McBee’s in the 1950’s. She was loved and will be deeply missed by many. Services will be Friday at 11AM at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home with Pastor Bob Steenrod officiating. Burial will be in Athens Memory Gardens. Friends may call Thursday from 4 to 7 PM.
