Rhea Jean Smith

THE PLAINS – Rhea Smith, 73, of Cleveland, formerly of The PLAINS, WENT TO BE WITH THE lord on July 15, 2015 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s. Born February 2, 1942 in Athens County, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Edna Cartwright Smith. Rhea graduated from The Plains High School in 1960. Except for a brief time in New England, Rhea spent the majority of her life in The Plains as a homemaker and housewife and also was a member of The Plains Zion Baptist Church. She will be sadly missed by family and friends. She is survived by her husband, John Smith of The Plains; a daughter, April (Dave) Baum of Cleveland; a sister, Patricia (Charles) Fravel of Glouster; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Katheryn Chicki; and her brother, David Smith. Services will be Monday at 1:00 PM at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home with Gary Alton officiating. Burial will be in The Plains Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 11:00 AM until the time of the service.
