ATHENS – David L. Wallace, 80, of Athens, died peacefully at his home Monday, June 22, 2015 after an extended illness. Born September 9, 1934 in Chauncey, he was the son of the late Harley and Vera Wallace. He was a 1952 graduate of Chauncey-Dover High School and spent 22 years in the United States Air Force before retiring in 1976 with the rank of Master Sergeant. He retired as the Associate Director of Communication Network Services at Ohio University in 2001 after 24 years of service. He has spent the past 38 years in charge of Communications for the Ohio University Football team. He has touched many lives during his years in the Military and through his work at Ohio University. He will be missed by many including his six dogs that meant the world to him. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Suzanne Tolson Wallace; a son, Mark ( special Friend Kimberly Wilson) Wallace of Athens; a daughter, Jackie (Special Friend Larry Wade) Wallace of The Plains; a son, Michael (Tara) Wallace of Athens; a sister, Sue (John) Rankin of Chauncey; a brother, Danny Wallace of New Marshfield; 9 grandchildren, Tiffany (Ryan) Garland, David Holifield, Jeni Todd, Sean Wallace, KaSandra Wallace, Alisha (Rick) Schuckert, Justin (Natasha) Pack, Camryn Wallace and Reece Wallace; 12 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Diana L. Wallace. A memorial service will be held Friday at 1:00 PM at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Flinn officiating. Burial will be immediately following at Greenlawn Cemetery where Military Services will be conducted by Athens American Legion Post 21, Athens VFW Post 3477, and Albany VFW Post 9893. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in memory of David Wallace, in support of Ohio Football and directed to The Ohio University Foundation, P.O.
