Dorothy Davis Kelton, 90, of Athens, Ohio, died early May 8, 2015. She is survived by her daughter Julia Kramer and son Stephen (Elizabethe) Kramer, both of Athens; granddaughter, Davis Kramer of Brooklyn, NY, and grandson Stephen Leo Kramer of Athens, as well as nieces, nephews, and friends in several states. Born in Gallipolis, Ohio, on September 22, 1924, Dottie grew up in Oak Hill, Ohio. As the second of five children of Edwin and Florence (Wiseman) Davis, she is survived by brothers Gordon (Florence) Davis of Dayton, and Edwin Davis of Indiana. Brother, Orlyn (Lorraine) Davis and sister Carol Davis Brown (Frank) preceded her in death. Dottie was married to Elden W. Kramer, William D. Kelton, and James Halterman, DDS. All preceded her in death. An active businesswoman in Dayton, Ohio, during World War II, Dorothy was also an office manager for William D. Kelton’s accounting firm in Athens, and managed Bromley Hall, a private student dormitory at Ohio University. She was a Board member and active supporter of My Sister’s Place in Athens. A fervent Ohio University Bobcat fan, Dottie built her life in Athens, and following a stroke in 2010, lived at The Lindley Inn in The Plains, Ohio. Her irreverent sense of humor and spirited sense of adventure will be missed by those who knew and loved her. A private graveside ceremony will be held Monday, May 11, 2015. A Celebration of Life for Dottie will be held at her son Steve’s home Homecoming Weekend 2015. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to My Sister’s Place or Hospice of Athens. The family sends sincere thanks to the nursing staff of The Lindley Inn, all of whom took such good care of Dottie.
