ALBANY – Larry R. Thomas, 65, of Albany, passed away March 10, 2015 at his home surrounded by family and friends. Born March 25, 1949 in Athens, he was the son of the late Cecil E. and Phyllis Clark Thomas. He was a member of the last graduating class of Chauncey Dover High School, former employee of Southern Ohio Coal Company Meigs Mine # 1 and retired from Ohio University. He was a US Army Veteran and a member of the Athens Elks Lodge 973, Athens American Legion and a Life Member of the Albany VFW and Athens AmVets. He also enjoyed being a Muskingum River Rat for the past 28 years. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Maggie Landis Thomas; two daughters, Gwen (Eric) Brannon of Albany, Jamie (Bobbie) Coleman of Cincinnati; five grandchildren, Koby Smith, Makenna Brannon, Khyla Brannon, Devon Coleman, Clay Coleman; his twin brother, Gary (Janice) Thomas of Athens; a sister, Sherry (Dana) Chapman of Athens; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Jim and Gene Thomas. Services will be Saturday at 11:00 AM at Christ Community Wesleyan Church with Rev. Denver Dodrill officiating. Burial will be in Athens Memory Gardens where Military Services will be conducted by Athens American Legion Post 21, Athens VFW Post 3477, and Albany VFW Post 9893. A gathering will follow at the Athens Elks Lodge. Friends may call at the Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home Friday from 5 to 8 PM where Elks services will be conducted at 5PM.
