Fred Mathias, Sr.

ATHENS – Fred Mathias, Sr., 80, of Athens, died Friday afternoon, February 20, 2015 at Ohio State University Hospital. Born May 13, 1934 in Columbus, he was the son of the late Ray and Kathryn Wilson Mathias. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Pauline; three children, Fred Mathias, Jr., Brenda Hamilton, Ray Mathias; five grandchildren, Mindy Dominick, Tiffany Mathias, Jennifer Hamilton, Kolt Mathias, Kayla Smathers; three great grandsons; a sister, Mary Linderman; and a brother, Richard (Patty) Mathias. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Margie Mathews; and two brothers, Ray and Cary Mathias. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
