The Plains - Ida Mae Smith, 90, of The Plains, went to be with the Lord, early Sunday morning, February 8, 2015. Born September 18, 1924 in Amesville, she was the daughter of the late Jewett and Mamie Frash Parmiter. She was a member of The Plains Nazarene Church for over 60 years and was a former employee of Belk’s Department Store. She enjoyed counted cross stitching and gardening. She is survived by five children, Sue Ann Kiger of Monroeville, PA, David (Pamela) Smith of Langsville, Alice Beckford of Amsterdam, Rebecca (Rodney) Holley of Athens, Juanita (Mark) Kraft of Dublin; nine grandchildren, James G. Pace, IV, Benjamin Pace, Richard (Emily) Purslow, III, Jodi (Jason Applegate) Smith, Noah (Jennifer) Smith, Kira (Fiance, Jerrad Willis) Holley, Michelle (Ryan) Shanley, Daniel (Kacey Lynn) Kiger, Ivy Kiger; and 15 great grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Elmer “Buster” Smith, August 16, 1981; and a sister, Mary Heischman. Services will be Saturday at 1:00 PM at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home with Gary Alton officiating. Burial will be in Sandrock Cemetery.
