ATHENS – Leonard Louis “Lou” Sims, 72, of Athens, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday morning, February 8, 2015 at O’Bleness Memorial Hospital. Louis was born September 18, 1942 to Bernice Evelyn Roberts Sims of Bearfield Township, Perry County and the late Leonard Leon Sims. He was a Baptist by faith and graduated from the last graduating class from McLuney High School in 1960. He received a bachelor’s of Science Education degree in 1964 from Ohio University and taught history and driver’s education at John Glen High School and he also coached football and basketball. He worked for Tennessee Gas Pipeline for 32 years retiring as plant foreman. He enjoyed water skiing, hunting, camping, reading and bowling. He was a member of the VFW Post 7174 and the AmVets Post 53, the NRA and was a Life Member of North American Hunting Club. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Carolyn Pillsbury Sims; two daughters, Barbara Sims of Athens, Sheila (Ray) Six of Chauncey; two grandchildren, Justin Sims, Hannah Sims-Howard; and his great granddogs, Carmella and Cocoa. He also leaves to cherish his memory, two sisters, Connie (Larry) Duffy of Portersville, Pamela Noll of Las Vegas; a brother, Edsel (Sharie) Sims of Zanesville; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Vince Noll. Services will be Friday at 11:00 AM at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home with Rev. A. Gail Sims officiating. Burial will be in Zion Cemetery, Portersville. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM.
