ATHENS – Lacie Brown, 81, of Athens, died Tuesday afternoon, January 27, 2015 at Brookside Rehabilitation in The Plains. Born August 17, 1933 in Kermit West Virginia, he was the son of the late Ernest and Dexter M. Thompson Brown. He was a US Marine Veteran of the Korean War and was a Life Member of the Athens VFW Post 3477 where he had been a former officer. He also was a member of the Athens AmVets and the Athens American Legion and also served on the Honor Guard. He is survived by five children, Michael (Kathy) Brown of Williamstown, WV, Anita (Richard) Nunez of Hanover, MA, Timothy Brown of Athens, Janel (Dan) Folden of New Marshfield, Kelli Blessing of Columbus; his long time companion, Betty Cline; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; a brother, Russell (Barbara) Brown of Groveport; and a sister, Christine (Woody) Simpkin of Lavallette, WV. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margery Brown; and several brothers and sisters. Military memorial graveside services will be Monday at 11:00 AM at West Union Street Cemetery conducted by the Athens American Legion Post 21, Athens VFW Post 3477 and the Albany VFW POST 9893. In lieu of flowers, Contributions may be made in his honor to the American Lung Association.
