ATHENS – Clarence Ivan Cash, 96, lifelong resident of Athens, passed away at his home, Monday, January 26, 2015. He was born September 12, 1918in Burlingham, he was the son of the late Clarence Benjamin and Gertrude Carr Cash. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie Marie. Clarence served in WWII as a Paratrooper and retired as a carpenter in the Athens area. He was a 75 year member of the Carpenters Local #356 in Marietta and was recently honored by the Carpenters Union as the oldest member and received a watch and plaque honoring him. Clarence is survived by three daughters, Linda Marlene (Jerry) Barker, Wanda Marie Cash, Brenda Kay (Mike) Ley; one son, William David (Shelia) Cash; seven grandchildren, Jerri Lynn Barker Williams, Christopher Barker, Holly Ley Rodriguez, Samantha Ley, Patrick Ley, April Cash Philbrook and Ambrea Cash Brooks; nine great grandchildren; two sisters, Marie Camille Stanson, and Betty Louise Wiseman. Services will be Monday at 1:00 PM at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home with Rev. David Shiver officiating. Burial will be in Athens Memory Gardens where military services will be conducted by the Athens American Legion Post 21, Athens VFW Post 3477 and Albany VFW post 9893.
