Donald L. Freed

ATHENS – Donald L. Freed, 64, of Athens, died Friday morning, December 19, 2014 at his home. Born May 30, 1950 in Parkersburg, WV, he was the son of the late Everett and Leah Wigal Freed. He graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1968 and moved to Athens in the mid 1970’s and later retired as a self employed contractor. He enjoyed traveling the world and also was a US Air Force Veteran of the Vietnam War. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Maria Freed Grimm and Greg Grimm of Millfield; a granddaughter, Ikaika Leila Grimm; two brothers, David (Claudia) Freed of Marshallville, Ronald (Tammy) Freed of Walker, WV; and a sister-in-law, Helen Freed. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William Freed. A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 3, 2015 at 2:00 PM at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Athens.
