Arthur P Ellis

ATHENS – Arthur P. Ellis, 93, of Athens, passed away Sunday morning, December 14, 2014. Arthur had fallen twice and had two partial hip replacements since October 1, 2014 and most recently acquired pneumonia. He was born February 21, 1921 in Athens, he was the son of the late Fred H. and Edith L. Hoisington Ellis. He graduated from The Plains High School and attended Ohio University. He served in WWII – European Theater of War. He was a member of the 14th Armored Division, US Army, which fought its way through France and Germany under the Command of General George Patton. Arthur was employed by Nabisco Brands Corporation, Sales Division, for 30 years. He was a former member of the Athens Lions Club and a member of The First United Methodist Church in Athens. He is survived by his wife, Kathryn Marie Groce Ellis, who were high school sweethearts and married October 3, 1942; a son, Terry A. Ellis and his wife Cindy reside in Palatine, IL. Terry has one son, Trent Arthur Ellis. Trent and his wife Kristen have one daughter, Emily and they reside in Frisco, CO. Terry and Cindy have two daughters, Meghan and Lauren who also reside in Palatine, IL. A daughter, Carolyn Ellis Wilkinson and her husband Mike Wilkinson reside in Wilmington, NC. They have four children, Chad, Todd, Kevin and Courtney Wilkinson. Chad and his wife Sara reside in Virginia Beach, VA and have two children, Kinsley and Hudson Wilkinson. Dr. Todd Wilkinson and his wife Laurence reside in Asheville, NC and have two sons, Kyle and Donovan Arthur. Kevin and his wife Susan reside in Wake Forest, NC and have five children, Lily Kate, Landon and triplet daughters, Reagan, Sadie and Caroline. Courtney Wilkinson also resides in Wake Forest, NC. Arthur’s brothers, Fredrick H. Ellis of Houston, TX (deceased) and his wife Pat Ellis. Children Lana and Fritz. Robert C. Ellis, Tuppers Plains, (deceased) and his wife June Ellis (deceased). Children Robert (deceased), William and his wife Bernita and Nancy and her husband Tom. A brother-in-law, Dwight Groce of The Plains and his wife Iona Groce (deceased). Graveside services will be Thursday at 11:30 AM at Athens Memory Gardens where military services will be conducted by Athens American Legion Post 21, Athens VFW Post 3477 and Albany VFW Post 9893.
