ATHENS – Donald G. “Tink” Evener, 62, of Columbus, formerly of Athens, died Friday, July 25, 2014 at Grant Medical Center. Born January 18, 1952, he was the son of Mary Josephine Willis Evener and the late Donald J. Evener. Don was a graduate of Federal Hocking High School and attended Hocking College. He served in the US Army and the Ohio National Guard and was a member of the American Legion in Grove City. He also was the owner of Ozzies carry out in Jacksonville. Don was a giver with a big heart and he enjoyed hunting deer and spending time with family and friends. He believed in God and confessed his faith. His love, generosity and humor will be missed by many. Besides his mother, he is survived by his wife of 25 years, Dorothy Evener; a son, Cliff Evener; a daughter, Nicole Evener; a stepson, Byron (Kristin) Defranco; a stepdaughter, Vickie (Wayne) Morris; a grandson, Luke Defranco; two brothers, John (June) Evener, Keith (Becky) Evener; three sisters, Linda Ewing, Sheila (Tom) Antle, Ruth Evener; and many nieces and nephews who loved him. Besides his father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Carolyn Sue “Susie” Evener. Services will be Wednesday at 1:00 PM at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home with Tom Antle officiating. Burial will be in Concord Cemetery where military services will be conducted.
