Barbara J. Harris

ATHENS – Barbara J. Harris, 81 of Athens, died Tuesday evening, May 13, 2014 at Grant Medical Center. Born November 1, 1932 in Athens, she was the daughter of the late Denver B. and Marguerite I. Snell Gooding. Barb was a 1950 graduate of Athens High School and a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She was also an avid Ohio University basketball fan and an active member of Jan’s Fans. Barb is survived by two sons, Terry (Betty) Harris of Rootstown, Greg (Teresa) Harris of Athens; a daughter-in-law, Vennie Evans of Clarksville, Tennessee; seven grandchildren, Amy Harris and her husband Bryan Busovicki of Lawrenceburg, Indiana, John Harris of Clarksville, Tennessee, Michael (Ashley) Harris of Medina, James (Alexandra) Harris of Ravenna, David (Colleen) Harris of North Canton, Tracie Harris of North Canton, Adam Harris of North Canton; a sister, Elayne Frank of Grand Prairie, Texas and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Vance W. Harris in 1987; a son, Roger Harris; an infant daughter; and a sister, Suzanne Ledbetter. Services will be Saturday at 1:00 PM at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home with Rev. Joel Harbarger officiating. Burial will be in Bartlett Cemetery.
