ATHENS – Marguerite E. “Peggy” Irwin, 77, of Athens, died Friday afternoon, May 2, 2014 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born June 6, 1936 in Athens, she was the daughter of the late Warren and Mary Rhine Munn. She was formerly employed at Hickory Creek Nursing Center and retired from O’Bleness Memorial Hospital as a social worker. She then created and managed the Senior Beat Program and was a member of the Canaanville Methodist Church. She is survived by three children, Kimberly (Randy) Lapp of Stewart, David Irwin and his fiance Mary Ann Deenis of Coolville, Stephen (Cari) Irwin of Athens; nine grandchildren; four great grandchildren; a brother, Gene (Barbara) Munn of Millersport; and her special dog and companion, Dusty. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Irwin; a son, Michael Irwin; two sisters, Billie Ingram, Sue Lightle; and a brother, Bob Munn. Services will be Tuesday at 4:00 PM at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home with Rev. James Lambert officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 1:00 PM until the time of the service.
