Dale Saylor

August 3, 1935 — March 8, 2014

ATHENS – Dale Saylor, 78, of Athens, died Saturday morning, March 8, 2014 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. Born August 3, 1935 in Madison Twp, Vinton County, Ohio, he was the son of the late Norman and Rose Kennard Saylor. He graduated from Waterloo High School and retired from the US Postal Service after 34 years as a rural mail carrier out of New Marshfield and then Athens. He served the US Army in Korea and was a member of New Marshfield VFW Post #8804. He also was a member of the New Marshfield Church of Christ and Masonic Lodge Constitution #426. He was also involved in the Walk Around the World Program with the Seniors at the Athens Recreation Center. He is survived by his wife, Bula Brown Saylor; three children, Robert Saylor of New Marshfield, Rita (Lynn Scott) Saylor of Ocean Grove, New Jersey, Ronda (John Patrick) Saylor of Yorktown Heights, New York; three grandchildren, Becki (Steve) Mikola of Independence, Kentucky, Eden and Cooper Patrick of Yorktown Heights, New York; twin great grandsons, Eldon and Sonny Mikola; a brother, Duane Saylor of Mansfield; two sisters, Helen Swaim and Betty Enlow both of Athens; a brother-in-law, Buford (Ginny) Brown of Athens; and several nieces and nephews. Dale was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Norman and Dent Saylor; and two sisters, Clarys Hunter, and Virgene Thomas. Services will be Thursday at 1:00 PM at the New Marshfield Church of Christ with Rev. Greg Holbert officiating. Burial will be in New Marshfield Cemetery where Military Services will be conducted by the Athens American Legion Post 21, Athens VFW Post 3477, and the Albany VFW Post 9893. Friends may call at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM where a Masonic service will be conducted at 6:00 PM. Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to the New Marshfield Masonic Lodge.
